A sapphire closed into a wide gold bezel that runs 11.63mm across and sits almost flush at 0.8mm, so the front of the necklace lies flat against the skin.
The bezel is why she is here. A wide gold frame gives a stone a bigger footprint on the body, and the bezel is the oldest setting there is, in use for centuries before anyone thought of claws. Sapphire owes its blue to a trace of iron and titanium in a stone that would otherwise be colourless. Eighteen inches, which puts her just below the collarbone.
