A small round 18k gold pendant with a hand-painted enamel Cancer crab in deep red-orange, surrounded by three white enamel stars. Polished gold disc, simple jump-ring bail.
Enamel zodiac charms had their moment in mid-century European gold work, when Italian and French jewelers made tiny enameled pendants as birthday gifts, travel souvenirs, and charm bracelet additions. The painting on this one has real character: a playful crab with curling claws, set against bright 18k gold, anchored by three little stars. Cancer (June 21 to July 22) for the people born under the sign, or for the people who love them.
