An Edwardian lavalier necklace in 14k yellow gold, set with two oval green garnets and dozens of seed pearls along delicate foliate leaves. A central horizontal spray frames the first garnet, with a second smaller garnet suspended below on a leaf-set drop.
Lavaliers (sometimes called négligée necklaces) were one of the defining jewelry forms of the Edwardian era. Light, delicate, and built around movement, they were designed to draw the eye down toward the décolletage. This one has every Edwardian signature: openwork construction, foliate motifs, the soft glow of seed pearls clustered along leaves, and the saturated green of garnets set in fine bezels. The chain is original. The whole piece is light to wear, light to look at, and remarkably well preserved for its age.
