An oval face cut with rays running out from a centre point, each angled to take light differently from the one beside it. Move your hand and the bright rays and the dark ones trade places, which is the whole trick of diamond-cut gold.
The cutting is the reason she is here. Gold worked this way throws light the way a stone does, and the sunburst has stood for vitality and renewal for about as long as people have made images of anything. Size 4½ with a face 11mm across, which puts her on a pinky with real presence.
